There’s a particular kind of book I love discovering: the one I picked up almost on a whim and then completely forgot about.

Confessions of a Pagan Nun had been languishing on my Kindle until a reading challenge finally pushed it to the top of my TBR. I wasn’t sure I would even finish it. Instead, I found a surprisingly thoughtful story about literacy, religion, women’s autonomy, and the power of telling your own story.

It turned out to be one of those wonderful reminders that our most interesting reading experiences aren’t always the books we carefully plan to read.
