Project Hail Mary Review: Is Andy Weir’s Biggest Hit Worth the Hype?
Project Hail Mary Review: Is Andy Weir’s Biggest Hit Worth the Hype?

I finally read the book that seemed to be everywhere: Project Hail Mary.

With a 4.5+ average on Goodreads and StoryGraph, a huge movie adaptation on the horizon, and plenty of enthusiastic recommendations, I had some pretty high expectations.

So… did Andy Weir’s space adventure live up to the hype?

My answer is a little more complicated than yes or no. I’m sharing what worked for me, what fell flat, and how the experience reminded me why sometimes we need to read a book for ourselves rather than for everyone else’s expectations.

I Revisited The Midnight Club as an Adult. Here’s What Changed.
I Revisited The Midnight Club as an Adult. Here’s What Changed.

There are books we remember because they were great, and books we remember because we were a completely different person when we read them.

I recently revisited Christopher Pike’s *The Midnight Club*, a book I first read as a teenager. This time, I listened to it as an adult and discovered that nostalgia is a funny little reading companion.

Some things held up. Some definitely didn’t.

And the experience made me wonder: **What would happen if you revisited one of the books you loved as a kid?**

Read my review of *The Midnight Club* and find out what changed when teenage Lacey met adult Lacey.

I Wanted a Dark Psychological Thriller. Famous Left Me Underwhelmed.
I Wanted a Dark Psychological Thriller. Famous Left Me Underwhelmed.

I’ve discovered that sometimes the biggest disappointment isn’t a bad book. It’s a book that promises exactly the kind of reading experience you’re craving… and never quite gets there.

In my newest review, I’m unpacking Famous by Blake Crouch, from the eye-catching cover that convinced me to buy it to the psychological thriller that left me wanting much more. If you’ve ever picked up a book because everything about it looked perfect, this one might feel familiar.

Remarkably Bright Creatures Book Review: Is This Overhyped Bestseller Worth Reading?
Remarkably Bright Creatures Book Review: Is This Overhyped Bestseller Worth Reading?

Everyone seemed to love Remarkably Bright Creatures. It was a bestseller, a book club pick, and eventually a Netflix adaptation. So when I finally picked it up, I expected to understand exactly why readers had fallen for it.

Instead, I finished with a slightly more complicated reaction.

I liked it. I appreciated it. I even found myself thinking about its themes long after I finished reading.

But I didn’t quite love it the way I expected to.

In my latest review, I’m talking about what worked for me, what didn’t, and why sometimes the most interesting reading experiences happen when your opinion doesn’t quite match the hype.

Problematic Summer Romance Review: When Does an Age Gap Romance Become Problematic?
Problematic Summer Romance Review: When Does an Age Gap Romance Become Problematic?

What happens when a romance comes with a built-in question mark?

In *Problematic Summer Romance*, Ali Hazelwood gives us a 23-year-old woman, a 38-year-old man, a brother’s best friend, a destination wedding in Sicily, and enough yearning to keep the Ionian coast warm. I went into this one ready for a fun summer escape, and I got exactly that, along with a few thoughts about age gaps, identity, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we’re allowed to become.

Plus: smart-silly banter, adorable animal friends, and a third-act breakup that isn’t actually a third-act breakup. Brilliant.

Steal This Fun Experience Gift for the Reader You Love

What do you give the reader who already has plenty of books?

In my case, my daughter gave me something even better: a whole day built around the things I love. She planned a surprise Birthday Book Crawl complete with a map, coupons, independent bookstores, delicious food, and plenty of time together.

It was thoughtful, personal, and completely my kind of day. And I think it might be the perfect experience gift for the book lover in your life, too.

Come along on our Dallas book crawl, then steal the idea for yourself.
