Book Review Requests
Have a book you think belongs on my reading list? I’d love to hear a little about it.
Lacey In The Library explores the relationship between what we read, why we choose it, and how books fit into our lives. I’m interested in stories that give readers something to think about, spark curiosity, or offer a memorable reading experience.
If you’re an independent author or represent one, you’re welcome to submit a book for consideration. I’m especially interested in literary fiction, historical fiction, mysteries and thrillers, contemporary fiction, speculative fiction, romance, fantasy, science fiction, and horror.
Every book is a personal reading decision, though, so genre alone doesn’t determine whether a submission is the right fit. Here’s what to know before sending a request.
What I’m Interested In
I consider books across a range of fiction genres, including:
- Literary and Contemporary Fiction
- Historical Fiction
- Mystery and Thriller
- Romance (all subgenres)
- Fantasy
- Science fiction
- Speculative fiction
- and, on the rare occasion, Horror
I’m open to both published books and forthcoming titles, including advance reader copies (ARCs). I consider print and digital review copies.
I evaluate each book individually, including its premise, subject matter, and fit with my interests as a reader. I don’t have a blanket list of acceptable or unacceptable themes, so please include relevant content notes in your submission when appropriate.
Not sure whether your book is a fit? You’re welcome to tell me why you think it would resonate with Lacey In The Library’s readers.
My Review Policy
Reviews are independent and honest.
My reviews reflect my own reading experience and opinions. I don’t offer guaranteed positive reviews, and accepting a book doesn’t mean I’ll necessarily love it. Authors and representatives should feel comfortable with an honest assessment of a book’s strengths, limitations, and overall reading experience.
A review isn’t guaranteed.
Submitting a request or sending a complimentary copy doesn’t guarantee that I’ll accept, finish, or publish a review. I make the final decision about which books to read and which reviews to publish.
Sometimes a book isn’t the right fit.
I reserve the right to decline a request, stop reading a book, or decide not to publish a review. If I don’t finish a book, I may choose to share that experience, but I won’t promise coverage simply because I’ve received a copy.
There is no fee to submit a book.
I don’t charge authors for independent reviews. Complimentary print or digital review copies are welcome, but sending a copy doesn’t create an obligation to review it. I’m not currently offering guaranteed review placements or paid positive reviews.
Publication timing is flexible.
I don’t guarantee a review date or turnaround time. My reading schedule depends on my existing commitments, reading interests, and available time. If your book has a specific publication date or campaign deadline, please include it in your request, but understand that I may not be able to accommodate it.
I retain editorial control.
I make the final decisions about my reviews, including their content, wording, format, and publication. I don’t offer approval rights over reviews before publication.
Reviews may be shared across my platforms.
Depending on the book and the content I choose to create, coverage may appear on the Lacey In The Library blog or be adapted into related content for Instagram, Goodreads, StoryGraph, Pinterest, or my newsletter. These additional features are possibilities, not guaranteed deliverables.
Complimentary copies are disclosed.
If I receive a complimentary copy or another benefit in connection with a review, I’ll disclose that relationship where appropriate. My editorial opinions remain my own.
What to Include in Your Request
The request form below helps me understand your book and decide whether I’d like to consider it. Please include:
- The book’s title, author, genre, and publication date
- A synopsis or book description
- A link to the book’s official page, retailer listing, or author website
- The format of the review copy you’re offering
- A brief explanation of why you think the book would be a good fit for Lacey In The Library
You don’t need to send a manuscript or a physical copy before I’ve had a chance to review your request. If I’d like to consider the book further, I’ll follow up with next steps.
Submit a Book for Consideration
Use the form below to introduce me to your book. Please submit one request per title so I can evaluate each book individually.
I’ll review your submission when my schedule allows. If I’m interested in considering your book, I’ll contact you using the email address you provide. Because I receive requests alongside my regular reading and work commitments, I may not be able to respond personally to every submission.
Thank you for thinking of Lacey In The Library as a possible home for your book. I appreciate the work that goes into bringing a story into the world, and I’m glad you’re here.
Please note: A submission is an inquiry, not an acceptance or a commitment to publish a review.
