About Lacey in the Library

Hi! My name is Lacey, and as you might expect, I am an avid reader. I read across a pretty wide spectrum of genres. Most importantly, I aim to review books honestly. I’ll spell out the good, the bad, and the ugly. Rave about the beautiful. And let you know if it lives up to the hype.

Where I Come From

My background in Art & Design lets me speak confidently to book aesthetics and to curate exceptional products to complement your literary lifestyle.

What exactly is that background? I have two bachelor’s degrees in Art History and Graphic Design/Media Arts and certification in UX Design. With nearly 10 years of professional experience in design, it seems second nature to look at the design and function of things, even books. So you’ll see that in my book reviews, lifestyle and experience stories, and curated products shared on Lacey in the Library.

Flashback

It was in the early 2010s. I was in a new place, tentatively making new friends. My reading had been” blah” and uninspiring for a while. A couple of my new friends were pretty into books and had asked what I was reading. I grimly explained my slump. One new pal jumped at the chance to recommend a book. She insisted that I read this book; she knew I would love it. She said we could chat about it, then she’d give me some more suggestions.

Well, what did I have to lose? If I stuck with what I was doing, I’d have missed out on discovering your next favorite story and continue feeling frustrated from uninformed choices. But if I liked the book, I might reignite my passion for reading AND bond with my new friend! The choice seemed obvious.

I borrowed the book and devoured it. Reading enthusiasm level-up! We chatted about it and I quickly dug into the rest of the series, but also took some chances on other books she recommended. The next thing I knew, I was surrounded by other readers and had re-fallen in love with books.
